Those little stories about little people who managed to achieve great feats also attracts my admiration and inspired me.
She demonstrated respectable attributes, much mirror those Asian parents who did all they could so that their kid can then lead a successful life and have a successful education (3 jobs.. wooh!). There were Asian parents who picked rubbish / or walk as trishaw driver and yet their kids became doctors etc. The sacrifice needed to achive this is enormous, touching and totally admirable.
However, consider what an average joe American (or British, or Malaysian is like), it would be too much to ask. If an average American/British/Malaysian had the same level of determination and strong will, I think our society would have advance so much more already.
So, yes, I support home schooling if one can do it, but I don't think eliminate public is in joe public's interest.. I am certainly going to try it on my little one.. |
